Top 10 libido killers

A recent article in associatedcontent.com broke down the top ten boner killers when it comes to sex drive.

Stress:  Sex is not best performed under pressure. Any kind of stress from work to family issues can take a bite out of your libido.

Relationship problems: Honeymoon sex (the sex a couple has at the beginning of a relationship) often ranks among the most fulfilling sexual experiences over the duration of a relationship. During this period, the couple has yet to get hung up on each other's emotional or relationship baggage. Also, sexual passion for women is largely influenced by emotional connectedness with a partner. When this connection is damaged, sex suffers.

Alcohol and drugs: Smoking can lead to impotence and alcohol can cause whiskey dick; in short, any chemical you put in your body has an impact on your natural processes, including sex.

Lack of sleep: Sex is difficult to perform while asleep. It's also a pretty big mood killer if your partner's moans slowly turn into snoring.

Medication: Just like drugs and alcohol, medications can mess with your sexual chemistry. Some common libido inhibitors are antidepressants, antihistamines, blood pressure drugs and oral contraceptives.

Body image: If you think you're disgusting and no one in his/her right mind would want to have sex with you, then you may only get turned off by someone who is actually willing to bed you. This can stem from any number of things, from weight issues to fears of inadequate penis or breast size. This is often related to low self-esteem, depression and obesity, which also hamper one's libido.

Obesity: Being overweight is directly related to a low sex drive and bad sexual performance.  This is often connected to low self-esteem, unsatisfactory relationships and problems performing sex.

Erectile dysfunction: If it's not bad enough that some men have trouble getting an erection, this disease also causes sufferers to worry excessively when presented with a sexual opportunity, further reducing their chances of being up for the encounter.

Low testosterone: Testosterone levels directly correlate with the intensity of your sex drive.

Depression: Not only does depression flatten your sex drive, but so do the drugs that treat it.
