QuestionI was loosing my erection very quickly.Some times with ejaculation or some time even before entry or just on entry. I was prescribed sildenafil citrate.I began with 25mg about 10yrs back. No w I am taking 100mg.But now I dont get proper erection nor it stays as long as it used to be earlier. My wife is fit and eager and demanding.About 2 yrs back I was diagonised with depression. At that time I lost erection totally.I understood my symptoms as I read lot on net.On my own I went to psychiatrist.After tratment I am mostly recovered.Erections returned then. But as told earlier of late erections are weak, do not last long and my wife sufferes. Pl. help.

| Reply #1 - 20:05 20/02/10 - Healthcare_Professional | You need to see your family doctor for some blood tests (testosterone, lipids and glucose) as alterations in these can cause erection trouble. Your doctor might prescribe some different medicines, so you need to also ask about medicines for erections as well. If you are not getting a full erection with viagra, you could try cialis or levitra. Cialis takes about 2 hours to work, but can be taken with food/alcohol. Levitra takes about 15 minutes to work, and can also be taken with food and alcohol. They have the same side effects as Viagra. Alternatives to these medicines are urethral pellets (called MUSE), injections into the penis, a vacuum device, or surgery. See what your doctor advises, or ask for a referral to a specialist clinic.

My testosterone level is low and has fallen further.Lipids r normal but I suffer from hypoglacimia.So I need to eat regularly, drink tea or have lime juice. By the way to my bad luck and bad luck of millions Levitra and Cialis is not available in India. I have never heard of Urethral pellets and may be most doctors in India may not have heard about them. Pl. give more info on same.Other options I dont want to try. |
| Reply #3 - 19:58 22/02/10 - Healthcare_Professional | The urethral pellets are called MUSE - Medicated Urethral System for Erections, and are made of Alprostadil, a type of prostaglandin E1. They come in four strengths, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 micrograms. You pass urine first to lubricate the urethra, then insert the pellet applicator. Once at the right depth, you deliver the pellet, then massage the penis for about 10 minutes or so. This coats the urethra (water/urine pipe) with the drug, enabling it to work better. The side effects include urethral burning and possibly lowering of blood pressure. It's unlikely that you've ever had a preparation with alprostadil in it, so best to have the first dose under medical supervision. These pellets can be quite successful, and have also been used in combination with Viagra (although neither preparation is licensed for use with other medicines). Ask your doctor to refer you to an Andrologist or a Urologist with an interest in sexual medicine. Your doctor might consider giving you testosterone supplements if your testosterone level is low.
